Using cutting edge technology from Biesse and REHAU to deliver an even better product for its clients
(PRWEB) February 13, 2014
Closet America, a leading home professional closet organization manufacturer headquartered in Lanham, Maryland, is proud to be the first company in the United States to incorporate the Biesse AirForce edgebanding system onto their production line.
The AirForce system, winner of the AWFS Visionary Award, gives companies access to the green benefits of the top invisible glue line quality given by laser edges. AirForce emits very forceful, very hot compressed air through a slot nozzle directly onto the reactive layer of laser banding to activate that layer and bond the banding to the substrate.
Other technologies that are used to attach edgebanding to melamine boards require more finishing work and dont provide a clean, seamless look due to the use of hot melt glue. The AirForce machine streamlines this process while providing an extremely clean edge finish. The technology eliminates several steps in the manufacturing process, including adhesive color matching selection, processing set-up, and additional cleaning and maintenance requirements.
Closet America has contracted with REHAU International to use their LaserEdge banding material on the Biesse AirForce system. LaserEdge is applied with Biesses highly efficient hot air edgebanding equipment that melts a color-matched functional layer on the reverse side of the edgeband and welds it to the carrier board. The resulting seam-free board offers increased aesthetic appeal with no joints to stain or discolor. REHAUs two-layer edgeband is made from polypropylene (PP) rather than the commonly used polyvinyl chloride (PVC) edging. PVC contains about 30% chlorine, which is toxic to the environment. PP is a neutral plastic that eliminates the potential for adhesive fume inhalation, as well as burn injuries often associated with the high temperatures required for PVC adhesive application.
Skip LaBella, President of Closet America, commented on the new production process. In our efforts to provide our customers with a high quality custom closet product along with our top notch customer service, we were excited to invest in the Biesse AirForce system. Closet America is known for our quality closet design, our superior product, and expert installation. This investment in the AirForce system, utilizing REHAUs LaserEdge banding material, is one more way that we continue to surpass our customers expectations.
We are honored that Closet America chose Biesse as their machinery supplier and are excited to be working with them on this new application, commented Jason Varelli, Brand Manager for Biesse America. The installation of the new Roxyl with the AirForce system will deliver an exceptional quality product as well as help increase their production speeds.
Dr. Thomas Troeger, North American director for REHAUs furniture business unit, commented on the new partnership. We are thrilled to form this partnership with Closet America to bring both streamlined manufacturing processes and aesthetics to a new level for their customers. Thanks to edgebanding machine companies like Biesse, there is also now a range of equipment to fit the business needs of companies like Closet America, who can benefit from the efficiency of a laser edgebanding machine in custom production applications.
