New Program Invites Organizations from Across the Continuum of Care
Boston, MA (PRWEB) February 14, 2014
The National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF), a central voice for patient safety since 1997, today announced the creation of a program to align stakeholders from across the continuum of care in a unifying mission to make health care safer for all. The NPSF Patient Safety Coalition, which evolved from the NPSF Corporate Council, currently includes 14 members representing a broad spectrum of health care perspectives.
One of our top strategic priorities is to partner more effectively with key stakeholders in health care, says Tejal K. Gandhi, MD, MPH, CPPS, president of NPSF. The NPSF Patient Safety Coalition represents the growth of the former NPSF Corporate Council, with an enhanced program developed to expand the NPSF patient safety community to include all entities working to advance patient safety and health care worker safety.
NPSF Patient Safety Coalition members include solutions providers that are working to address patient safety challenges, professional associations, advocacy organizations, and others. Joining the Coalition signals a member organizations commitment to the patient safety mission and provides unique opportunities for networking, learning, and knowledge sharing (including quarterly conference calls on patient safety topics and an annual member forum hosted by NPSF at the Foundations headquarters in Boston).
The current members of the NPSF Patient Safety Coalition are Hospira; Laerdal; Sage Products, Inc.; McKesson; SonoSite; BD Healthcare; Pacira Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN); the National Council of State Boards of Nursing; Covidien; the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI); Cadence Pharmaceuticals; Standard Register Healthcare; and the MagMutual Patient Safety Institute.
We are grateful to the organizations that have demonstrated their commitment to patient safety by joining the Coalition and are very proud to be working alongside them as we pursue important initiatives to improve patient safety, says Dr. Gandhi. We hope to see many other similar organizations join the Coalition in the future.
