PRINCETON -

A mistrial was declared in the trial on a man who was accused of child abuse and possession of child porn.

A jury in Mercer County could not reach a decision in the case of John Spaulding.  That resulted in a mistrial on Friday, Feb. 7.  A week later Judge William Sadler set a new trial date.  A new jury will be selected to hear Spaulding's case on March 31.

Spaulding is accused of Sexual Assault and Sexual Abuse against two young girls, a three-year-old and a 14-year-old.  He is also facing 50 child porn charges.

Spaulding is the former boyfriend of Kimberly Cox, who pleaded guilty to similar charges involving her own children.  Cox accepted the plea deal and testified against Spaulding in the trial.
