HUNTINGTON, WV -

George Bizet's Carmen will make its way to the stage at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20 the Keith Albee Performing Arts Center in Huntington.
Dramatic, and sometimes irrational, Carmen is considered to be the essence of opera.  George Bizet's well known masterpiece will be the topic of a pre-show opera chat beginning at 6 p.m.  This chat is free for those with a Carmen show ticket in hand.  Arrive early, and join Marshall University music professor Larry Stickler and Teatro Lirico D'Europa's Artistic Director, Giorgio Lalov, as they provide insight into the passionate story of Carmen.
Carmen, the heroine of Georges Bizet's masterpiece, is a gypsy woman that has been captivating hearts for nearly 250 years.  Both dangerous and beautiful, this gypsy girl draws Escamillo and Don José to her flame.  However, this femme fatale is unpredictable, much like fate and love itself.  The audience will find Carmen vivacious, as she stomps, dances, and moves.  Many cheer for this woman from the other side of the fence, as her allure knows no bound.
The story of Carmen, supported by a full orchestra, is well-known through the opera genre.
Tickets range in price from $29.75 to $65.06.  To secure tickets, contact the Marshall Artists Series box office at 304-696-6656. Box office hours are Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
