Partnership with Second Harvest Fights Hunger

ST. CLOUD, Minn., Feb. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Pan-O-Gold Baking Company gave more than 1.5 million loaves of bread to food banks in the Midwest in 2013, with 775,000 going to Second Harvest Heartland alone.

Pan-O-Gold helps families going through tough economic times by donating a large number of fresh, unsold loaves to food shelves throughout their distribution area.

"We knew there was a growing need in our communities, and it was something we took very seriously," says Jimmy Hanson, Vice President of Sales, Minneapolis area. "Our company has been blessed, and giving back to the community was something we wanted to do. If we can't help each other, who else can we help?"

Pan-O-Gold Baking Company's fight against hunger is part of a larger initiative to remain a socially responsible organization. The company accomplishes this through plants partially powered by solar and wind energy, biodegradable and recyclable packaging, repurposing heat from baking ovens, and numerous other green initiatives.

One of the Midwest's leading wholesale bakeries, Pan-O-Gold Baking Company produces, markets and distributes a variety of bread, buns and baked goods, including Country Hearth and Village Hearth brands as well as private label and co-packed products. The company demonstrates its commitment to quality and nutrition through its use of wholesome, allergen-free ingredients, biodegradable packaging, and environmentally conscious production and distribution lines.
