    For more than 10 years, College Summit West Virginia has been helping make higher education more attainable for 37,000 students who have participated in the program.

In its effort toinspire the next generation of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathprofessionals, the Society of American Military Engineers Huntington Post willsponsor an Engineering Career Day for local high school and college students February 20 at the Marshall University Student Center in Huntington.

U.S. Army Col. Leon Parrott, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of EngineersHuntington District, will kick off the event with remarks and breakfast at 7:30 a.m., followed byregistration at 8:15 a.m., an opening ceremonyat 9:00 a.m. and workshopscommencing at 9:15 a.m. Engineering exhibitswill be on display throughout the day. A panel discussion featuring STEMsubject matter experts answering questions posed by attendees will occur duringa catered lunch starting at noon. The day will concludewith door prizes and scholarship awards.

The SAME Huntington Post anticipates awarding five scholarships to students atEngineering Career Day. Each scholarship is worth $1,000.

Engineering Career Day is a by invitation only event. Approximately 200sophomores from local participating schools are scheduled toattend.   
The SAME Huntington Post sent notification letters/ invitations to schools inthe Tri-State region in December.
