BLUEFIELD, Va. -

Council members gathered in Bluefield, VA on Tuesday night to hear a new proposed ordinance to help resolve the problem of barking and howling dogs.

The current ordinance says that you can contact the police if barking dogs becomes an issue in your area, but they prefer that you work it out with the dog owner first.  The main thing the Council wants to avoid is having any type dispute amongst neighbors.

Mayor Don Harris said, "The goal of the revised ordinance would be to avoid these 'one on one' confrontations."

Officials and the Police Chief will come up with the new revised ordinance by the next council meeting on Tuesday, March 4.
