Bluefield Police investigate possible gunfight near College Ave.

    A nationwide debate is taking place after an unarmed black teenager was shot and killed by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri .Ferguson cops were given body cameras by two companies after allegations have been made against protesters, who are outraged by the shooting.Soon police around the country could be wearing body cameras.

Police in Bluefield, WV are investigating an incident that happened on Tuesday evening that may have been a gunfight.  What was initially reported as a pair of shootings may have actually been two groups shooting at each other.

Investigators said that they believe that two groups of people opened fire in the area of Bluefield were Stoval, North and Jefferson Streets come together.  The incident took place near Douglas Equipment at around 5 p.m. on Feb. 25. Police said that the two groups may have been about a thousand feet apart.

When Police arrived they learned that one person had been taken to the hospital.  The victim was identified as Sheila Martin.  She was taken to Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Officers said that she was treated and released.

The incident is still under investigation by the Bluefield Police Department.  Investigators said that there are no suspects at this time.  If anyone has information on the incident they are asked to contact the Bluefield WV Police Department at 304-327-6101.
