    In Mercer County a man facing disturbing charges involving children appeared in court Friday, August 22 for a plea hearing.Joseph Inman pleaded guilty to 64 counts of possession of material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.He is facing two to ten years and will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.He will be sentenced in October.He was arrested back in December of last year.

The West Virginia University Board of Governors presidential search committee has recommended interim president E. Gordon Gee, 69, for the position on a permanent basis.

The search committee had an emergency meeting Feb. 28 to make the recommendation.

Gee was first named interim president Dec. 6, following Jim Clements departure to become president at Clemson University.

The board of governors previously indicated that the interim president would assist in the search to find a new president for the university and that the interim president wouldn't be an eligible candidate to become president. The board said Friday that it would have to rescind the motions. BOG Chairman and Chair of the Presidential Search Committee James Dailey II said the BOG will hold an emergency early next week. The Higher Education Policy Commission will also call an emergency meeting.

Gee's annualized salary as interim president, according to WVU, is $450,000, which accounts to $37,500 per month, and in Gee's case, from January through June, will amount to $225,000.

Dr. Gee first served as president of WVU from 1981-1985.

Gee was not at the meeting, but afterward said he was "honored, energized and humbled" by the committee's decision.

"My return to West Virginia has reminded me of the special spirit of this university and he unique role it plays in the state," Gee said. "I am also reminded of the warmth of the people of West Virginia, which have been demonstrated over the past few months in full measure."
