    The West Virginia Wilderness group has been fighting three gas companies for months, who want to put a pipeline in Pocahontas County .Lauren Ragland is the founder of West Virginia Wilderness and said the pipeline does not belong in Pocahontas County.

    Delegate A. Benton "Ben" Chafin was elected to the Senate of Virginia, Tuesday. Chafin secured a Republican majority in the General Assembly upper chamber. Chafin will serve and represent the 38th District, succeeding former Senator Phil Puckett who resigned in June. Chafin defeated Democrat Mike Hymes and Independent Rick Mullins. Polls closed at 7 PM on Tuesday night.

    A man who held a CVS employee at knife point on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014 is the subject of a search by police officers. The man came into the CVS at the corner of Eisenhower Dr. and Ragland Rd. at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday.

A winter storm that has dropped inched of snow around the area is causing some businesses and organizations to close up shop or announce late openings.  Here is a list of those groups that have contacted 59News to advise the public about changes in hours:

RALEIGH COUNTY:

Crossroads Mall - Closing at 4 p.m.

Tamarack - Closed

Court Cases in front of Judge John Hutchison - Canceled

School of Harmony - All music and dance classes canceled

Town of Sophia - Town Hall closing at 12:30 p.m.

Raleigh County Courthouse - Closing at 2 p.m.

Carpenters Local 1911 - Regular meeting at 7 p.m. in Beckley has been canceled

FAYETTE COUNTY:

Fayette Senior Programs - Closed.  No homebound meals and all senior nutrition centers are closed in Fayette County.

Fayette County Health Dept. - Closed.

Fayette County offices and Courts - Closed at Noon

GREENBRIER COUNTY:

Robert C. Byrd Clinic in Lewisburg - Closing at 5 p.m., evening clinic canceled.
