A worthy organization in our area is getting a helping hand from local legislators.

The Women's Resource Center was just given an $8,500 dollar grant.

West Virginia House of Delegates representative Ricky Moye presented The Women's Resource Center with a certification for a grant. The "community participation grant" was awarded to the Director.

Patricia Day told 59News the resource center will use the funding for much-needed repairs to the facility.

"Everything we get in goes to provide direct services. To get this support and to be able to do what we need to do with this funding is wonderful," Day said.

The Women's Resource Center is a private, non-profit agency that provides temporary shelter, counseling, advocacy and supportive services for victims, survivors, and witnesses of domestic and sexual violence.
