TAZEWELL, Va. -

A woman who is originally from Tazewell County, Virginia is in police custody tonight in Church Hill, Tennessee.

A former classmate tell us she graduated from Tazewell High School.

Police said Stephanie Hamman allegedly crashed her car into Providence Church and then stabbed her husband in the chest after telling him, "The devil is in me."

Steven Hamman said his wife called him after driving her car through the front doors of the church.

He found her laying in front of the alter, and she stabbed him with a large kitchen knife.

In the police report, Hamman says she was mad because her husband was worshipping the NASCAR race at Bristol.

She also admitted to smoking a lot of marijuana, and said God told her to get into the church, and the devil told her to bring the knife.

Hamman is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder and felony vandalism.
