MONTCALM -

Deputies arrested a Mercer County man after a shooting Monday night in the Montcalm area.

Fredrick Farmer was arrested after deputies said he fired shots at two people arguing in a trailer park across from his home on Rail Street in Montcalm.

Deputies discovered Farmer had a 12-gauge shotgun in his house that was stolen from a person in Raleigh County in 1994.

Deputy Horn said Farmer had fired a slug, which is heavier than a traditional bullet after finding a shell casing near the mobile home park. Horn said a one ounce solid slug round would easily penetrate a house.

Deputy Horn also added Farmer was intoxicated at the time of his arrest and claimed the two fighting people shot at him.

Farmer is facing charges of two counts of wanton endangerment, shooting across a roadway and firing within 500 feet within a dwelling.
