An early morning stabbing in Tazewell County left deputies investigating the scene hours later.

Cherrie Whitt, 51, was stabbed at a home on Bowman Road near the intersection with Abbs Valley Road on Friday, March 21.  The incident happened just after 5 a.m.  The suspect was Whitt's son, Ryan Thomas Fox, 30, of Abbs Valley. Whitt was stabbed in the face and neck.  She ran to a neighbors house and was later taken to Bluefield Regional Medical Center where she had emergency surgery.  She is now recovering.

Fox blockaded himself in the home, but deputies were eventually able to talk him out.  He is facing a felony charge of Malicious Wounding.  He is being held in the Southwester Regional Jail.  He will be arraigned in front of a circuit judge on Monday, March 24.
