    In Raleigh County, a woman is miraculously not seriously injured, after her car rolls over on I-77 around 6:30 Wednesday night.An eyewitness tells us the woman was driving in the left lane on the northbound side. She suddenly veered off the road, over corrected,then slammed into the side of a tractor trailer. The car rolled multiple times before coming to a stop on it's roof.The witness says two small dogs ran out of the car. Moments later, the woman crawled out and ran after one of the dogs....

    Believe it or not, some students in our area are going back to school next week. For parents struggling to buy school supplies, Virginia is offering a tax-free holiday. 
    Believe it or not, some students in our area are going back to school next week. For parents struggling to buy school supplies, Virginia is offering a tax-free holiday. 

The fifth annual High School Civics Challenge, an original quiz-based, televised competition among area high schools, is being hosted by West Liberty University.

The civics challenge showcases talented students from local schools, gives them a chance to win scholarship money to WLU and a chance to be involved with student broadcasting at WLU-TV.

Members of the winning team will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship to attend West Liberty University. The second place team members will be awarded a $500 scholarship.

The format of the challenge is a half hour "quiz bowl" type trivia show, with teams will consisting of four students with two alternates. Questions will focus on social studies, history, civics, business, geography and popular culture.

Participating schools for 2014 include: Brooke, Buckeye Local, John Marshall, Magnolia, River, Shadyside, Steubenville and Toronto high schools.

The West Liberty University High School Civics Challenge will air on WLU-TV, Comcast Channel 14, on Saturdays at noon. The broadcast can also be viewed via USTREAM at wltvonline.com.

Quarterfinals began airing at noon every Saturday March 15 and will run through April 5. The semifinals will air April 12 – April 19 and the finals will air April 26.
