St. Mary's Medical Center made a donation of $5,000 on behalf of all doctors who serve patients at the Medical Center to United Way of the River Cities as part of Physician Appreciation Week and National Doctors' Day.

"Our physicians play such an important role in the lives of patients every day, and we are truly thankful for them," said Lee Taylor, MD, vice president for medical affairs at St. Mary's. "To honor their contributions to our community, we have made this donation in each of their names."

The money will go to the health focus area programs funded by United Way in its service area of Cabell, Lincoln, Mason and Wayne counties in West Virginia and Lawrence County, Ohio.

"We truly appreciate St. Mary's honoring physicians in this way because this money will go directly to benefit important health initiatives in our community," said Melin Moses, MD, family practice physician and president of St. Mary's medical staff.
