A Huntington man charged with shooting six people in the Northcott Court neighborhood in September has admitted to having guns in his possession and selling heroin.

As a convicted felon, U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin said 31-year-old Antonio Michael Smith cannot legally possess a gun. Smith has prior convictions for robbery in Ohio in 2001 and unlawful wounding and attempt to commit a felony in Cabell County in 2010.

Smith fled the state after the September 2013 shooting and was eventually located and arrested in New York by the FBI, Goodwin said.

He also told the court he sold heroin in Huntington in February 2013.

The case is being prosecuted as part of an ongoing effort led by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of West Virginia to combat the illicit sale and misuse of prescription drugs and heroin. The investigation was conducted by the Huntington Violent Crime/Drug Task Force, Huntington Police Department, DEA and the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney M. Frazier is handling the prosecution.
