The Fayette County Board of Education said that school staff and police were on the grounds at Fayetteville High School on Monday morning after a bomb threat was received.

The threat came in at 7:45 a.m. and according to Fayette County School Superintendent Keith Butcher, the school staff acted appropriately and the school was placed on lockdown.  Sheriff's Deputies and State Troopers were on the scene.  They checked for explosives and cleared the school.

"The Fayetteville High School staff responded quickly and the coordination with law enforcement agencies was outstanding," said Superintendent Butcher.

The school had resumed a normal schedule by 9:45 a.m. on Monday, April 7.
