Young leaders in the Bluefield's to be recognized for their services

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. -

Thirty-three young leaders in the two Bluefield's are graduating and will be honored for their services this week.

The Greater Bluefield Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership Program began in 1997. It's an opportunity for 10th and 11th graders from Graham and Bluefield High School to do service projects and work alongside businessmen in the region.

The youth leaders volunteer for 8 sessions, twice a month for 4 months.

"It's exposing them to things that they might now know we have in our area. We have a tremendous amount of things available for youth. Education opportunities beyond high school, college and vocational. Plenty of opportunities in this area," said CEO of Greater Bluefield Chamber of Commerce, Marc Meachum.

Graduation will be at Fincastle Country Club in Bluefield, Virginia at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.
