    State Troopers out of Princeton, WV confirmed that they are looking for Christopher Lee Tolliver, a registered sex offender. Tolliver was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on Tuesday Aug. 19, 2014, but failed to show up.

    A fire late Thursday night leaves a family in McDowell County homeless. Everyone was able to get out of the home in Raysal safely, but a friend of the family, who saved their dog, told us it was a very close call.

The Mercer County Board of Education has announced the educator who takes home the honor of being the best in the county for 2014-2015.

Susan French, who is a sixth grade teacher at Montcalm Elementary was honored as the 2014-2015 Teacher of the Year in Mercer County.  The announcement was made during a banquet at Princeton Church of God on Thursday night.

French has taught in Mercer County for 36 years, and has spent all of that time in the same classroom.  She works with Michelle Martin and credits Martin and former co-teacher Millie Hedrick with her success.  French said they run the classroom like a company.  The teachers are the employers, the students the employees and the product is learning. 

French has taught 1,700 students in her career.  She and Michelle Martin are known for having their students achieve the highest Westest2 scores in Mercer County.
