Police search for woman in attempted bank robbery case out of Bluefield, WV

A search is being conducted for a person who tried to rob the First Century Bank on College Ave in Bluefield, WV on Friday morning.

According to police the woman came into the lobby of the bank at around 11:40 a.m. on Friday, April 11.  The woman handed the teller a note that demanded money and stated she had a gun.  The teller did not give the woman any cash and the suspect left the bank empty handed. According to the WV Code, indicating that you have a weapon is grounds for an armed robbery charge.

Bluefield, WV police are searching for a black woman who was wearing all black clothes and dark sunglasses.  It is not known of the woman is from the Bluefield area or where she may have gone after leaving the bank.  Anyone with information on the location or identity of the woman is asked to call the Bluefield, WV Police Department at 304-327-6101.
