Kanawha County -

Two people are dead following a plane crash Friday evening in Kanawha County.

According to Dennis Diaz with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), who conducted a press conference Saturday, the married couple who died in the plane crash have been identified as 50-year-old Lazarus Enoch Sommers and Maryann Sommers, both of Millersburg, OH.

The preliminary report will be released in ten business days, however according to Diaz, it may take up to 12 months before it is determined as to what happened.

The NTSB are in the recovery phase and will be interviewing witnesses.

If there is anyone who witnessed the crash and wants to come forward with a statement, contact the NTSB at witness@ntsb.gov.

The crash happened Friday, April 11.

The plane crash was originally reported in the Riverside area of Kanawha County.

A small Piper PA-32 plane with the tail number N39965 left Canton, Ohio at 3:15 p.m. and was scheduled to land in Spartanburg, S.C. at 6:30 p.m., according to flight records.

The flight log for this plane stops just before 5 p.m., and the last recorded latitude and longitude coordinates land in Eastern Kanawha County, in the Eskdale area.

An FAA spokesperson confirmed just after 7:30 p.m. Friday a Piper PA-32 aircraft "apparently crashed in Eastern Kanawha County."

The spokesperson said the flight departed Akron Fulton International Airport and was destined for Spartanburg Downtown Memorial Airport in South Carolina.
