Chester, WV resident charged with operating meth lab

A Chester, WV resident is in police custody for operating a meth lab at his home on Arner Road.

Eric Jason Ulbrich, 40, of 300 Arner Road, was taken into custody after the Hancock-Brooke-Weirton Drug Task Force, Hancock County Special Response Team and clandestine lab specialists with the West Virginia State Police executed a search warrant at his home.

Sheriff Ralph Fletcher said the department was tipped to the illegal drug activity and, after investigating, obtained the warrant.

"Officers conducted the search of the residence and surrounding property and recovered several items indicative of a methamphetamine production and the operation of a clandestine drug laboratory," Fletcher said.

Officials with the task force said the items were photographed and samples submitted to the state crime lab for testing.

Fletcher said official reports state Ulbrich admitting to manufacturing meth and has been charged with operating or attempting to operate a clandestine drug laboratory.

Ulbrich, who Fletcher said had previously been in trouble for illegal methamphetamine production in Georgia, is being held in the Northern Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond.
