A Beckley woman who stole a prescription pad from her former employer will spend 14 months in federal prison for obtaining oxycodone by fraud, U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin said.

Tina Marie Richmond, 41, was working as a receptionist at a doctor’s office in the Beckley area when she stole the prescription pad, which had the doctor's DEA registration number on it. She then forged the doctor's signature on prescriptions, she admitted to the court in December.

Richmond stole a prescription pad that contained the doctor’s DEA registration number.  Richmond used the pad to write prescriptions for oxycodone on which she forged the doctor’s signature.  Richmond plead guilty in December.

The case was prosecuted as part of an ongoing effort led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to combat the illicit sale and misuse of prescription drugs and heroin in the Southern District of West Virginia
