The Arnold Agency, a longtime marketing and media firm headquartered in Charleston, has been acquired by the Asher Agency, under the corporate umbrella of Eastport Holdings.

The transition became effective April 15.

Arnold Agency, which will be rebranded as the West Virginia office of the Asher Agency, also has operated offices in Washington, D.C. and Montana.

Linda Arnold, founder, chairman and CEO of The Arnold Agency, will be available as a consultant to the new company. She plans to expand the distribution of her syndicated newspaper column “Live Life Fully,” wrapping up a 25-year career as the head of The Arnold Agency.

Her column is a monthly feature in The State Journal and she is a 1993 recipient of The State Journal’s Who’s Who in West Virginia Business award.

“We’re thrilled to have The Arnold Agency join our group of companies,” said Tom Borne, president of the Asher Agency. “We’ve known and respected them for a long time through our mutual association with the Subway organization over the years.

“Altogether, we’ll be working with Subway franchises in 22 states across the country as well as our digital delivery company in California and their public health clients in Montana and Hawaii.”

Steve Morrison, a partner with The Arnold Agency for the past 24 years, has become vice president and general manager of the Asher Agency’s West Virginia office.

“When we first began discussions with Asher/Eastport we knew it would be a good fit,” said Morrison. “The increased depth of experience and bench strength they bring to our clients allows us to greatly enhance the services we provide. Now we have sister companies that specialize in everything from digital delivery to retail to social media.

“When we met … everyone was encouraged to out our individual resources together.”

Asher, a 40-year-old business, is headquartered in Fort Wayne, Ind. Eastport is headquartered in Memphis, Tenn.

“We look forward to the future with great anticipation,” Borne added. “Our joint food service industry experience with Subway is a natural springboard, and we’re already pursuing other arenas of collective experience such as health care, higher education, automotive and financial services.”
