TAZEWELL -
A local Sheriff's department that prides itself on finding new, innovative ways to enforce the law, found another way to better serve their community.

They were proud to announce they have made a new application for smartphones. The app can be used to send in tips, pictures and keep up with what the department is doing.

Major Harold Heatley said since Facebook has helped them so much, he doesn't see how this wouldn't help.

"It's just another way for us to reach out to the public so they know what's going on," he said.

All tips sent in are anonymous and the sheriffs department thinks people won't hesitate as much when giving authorities helpful information.

To download the app you have to search "Tazewell County Sheriff" in your phones app store and download it, free of charge. You can also sign up for alerts.
