BECKLEY - An investigation has been launched by Detectives with the Beckley Police Department in connection with the death of Sylvia Washington.

Washington, who was 76-years-old, was found dead in her home on South Fayette St. in Beckley on April 16. Police sent the body to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Charleston. The preliminary results indicated that there are injuries on Mrs. Washington's body that are "consistent with homicide." Beckley Police are investigating the death. In a release issued on April 30, Detectives said that there were some persons of interest who were identified in the case.

"We think there's a good possibility that someone in the community has information that can be beneficial. Even if it's small, some people might have heard something and think it's insignificant but we would still like to have any information," said Detective Frank Priddy.

Several people have also been interviewed, and the case is still open. Anyone with information about Mrs. Washington's death is asked to contact the Beckley Police at 304-255-1708 or CrimeStoppers at 304-255-STOP.
