Some top High School seniors were recognized Friday afternoon.

The annual Raleigh County Superintendent's Scholars' Luncheon honored all Summa Cum Laude students from all four Raleigh County High Schools.

Teachers told 59News these young leaders speak to the volume of high quality education in the county. A Woodrow Wilson senior said she's proud to be honored not only for athletics, but also for academics.

"I've put in a different amount of dedication and hard work than most people and I do believe it's nice that we get to be honored and shown for our hard work, especially at our school, where some of them are shown for sports instead of academics so it's nice that now we get to balance them out," Mary-Kate Bostick said.

A record 49 students were honored at this year's event.
