Social search engine wraps up beta-testing following sponsorship of MMA Fighter Cris Cyborg and is quickly becoming pop culture's latest must-have tool

LOS ANGELES, May 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Adopting the tagline, "The Social Search Engine", HashAtIt.com is the first social media search engine that gives users a way to gather information on any metadata tags (#hashtags) from popular social networks, collecting all the results in one place.  It offers advocates of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest, the ability to filter trending hashtags or any topics of interest, from these social media platforms by entering a single tag and collecting relevant posts and status updates worldwide. The first of its kind, HashAtIt is the only search engine dedicated to focusing the search on the ever popular hashtags that's taken over pop culture today.

Founder Laurie Paolone, former CIO at MagnaFlow, realized the need for a simpler way to sort through hashtags while traveling abroad in Italy. Trying to compile up-to-date photos and information about her parents' hometown, Castropignano, she realized that there wasn't any one website that she could go to that would give her that information in real time.

Paolone explains, "I noticed that people were using the hashtag #castropignano on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest but I wanted to figure out a way to bring all those hashtags to one place so that everyone could see all the photos, get event information and even participate in the conversations about Castropignano, all in REAL TIME."  This revelation sparked Paolone's development of HashAtIt.

Today, social media platforms often seem one step ahead of the traditional news outlets, as people who witness anything of interest are able to put it up immediately onto their platforms as it happens. More often than not, social media has given first looks into breaking news topics even before it's mentioned on traditional news networks. Paolone continues, "The news comes directly from the people… at the time of Paul Walker's death, social media users were the first to get a hold of video, photos, and details that traditional news sources weren't even aware of. We were building our site at the time when that tragic crash happened. We did the search on our testing site and was one of the first to see the video of the crash, 6 hours before it was posted on a large network's site. We realized that our platform could give people the results they're looking for as-it-happens, without any biased censorships."

HashAtIt's uniqueness stems from its user-friendly interface and customizable #hashtag boards, which can be created and tailored by its users, setting the free service apart from other metadata tracking platforms. One can craft their own hashtag boards, mute the posts they find irrelevant, and embed their boards on their personal social networks, blogs, or websites, making it easier to follow, share or join in conversations with their topics of choice.

HashAtIt's beta-testing phase ended last month, following a successful sponsorship campaign with #1 Female MMA Fighter Worldwide, Cris Cyborg, for her appearance in Lions Fight 2014 in March. Fans of the sport were able to track the social conversation under the tag #criscyborg leading up to and during the Lions Fight event. "The response has been incredible," said Paolone in response to the beta-testing. "We've already had over 100,000 #hashtag searches recorded, and it's been used in over 130 different countries around the world."

From avid social media users to company branding strategies, #hashtags have become the main source of conversation through social media channels. HashAtIt is compatible with multiple language input options enabling a worldwide audience of users, making it THE ultimate social search and sharing experience.
