Teenager arrested for sexual assault of minor in Nicholas County, WV; parent also arrested
A teenager was arrested for being accused of sexual assault of a minor at least eight times over a period of several months in Nicholas County, WV. The parent was also arrested for allegedly authorizing this contact and knowing about it.
According to a news release issued by the Nicholas County Sheriff's Department, 19-year-old Alexandria Schmidt was arrested and charged with eight counts of third degree sexual assault, while the parent of the victim was arrested and charged with authorizing sexual contact with a minor.
The news release says the victim told police about a relationship the victim had with Schmidt. After police conducted an investigation, they found that Schmidt allegedly committed sexual assault on the victim at least eight times between October of 2013 and May of 2014, and that the victim's mother allegedly knew the sexual assaults had occurred.
Both were taken to the Central Regional Jail. Schmidt is being held on a $40,000 bond, while the parent is being held on a $20,000 bond.
