Darrell Moore Memorial Classic returns to Beckley

Posted: Updated:
The 14th Annual Little General Darrell Moore Memorial Classic kicks off Saturday morning in Beckley.

The YMCA Paul Cline Memorial Sports Complex will host over 50 travel soccer teams from West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio.

The event is named after Darrell Moore who was a soccer enthusiast and also was a volunteer coach before he passed in 1999.

Tournament organizers say that with so many teams coming to town it will have an overall positive impact on the community.
"(We're) looking at probably a thousand kids, plus coaches and parents so it should be a good economical impact for the Beckley area," said Jason Logan the Assistant Program Director.
The tournament, that consists of boys and girls, will run through Sunday.
