Jaroslawicz & Jaros - a full-service personal injury law firm based in New York City - is currently representing a passenger who was injured after an F-Train subway derailed in early May.
NEW YORK, May 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Jaroslawicz & Jaros has been representing injured victims and families throughout New York City since 1980 and has recovered more than $1 billion in compensation for clients. As a firm that fights on behalf of those who have suffered harm through no fault of their own, Jaroslawicz & Jaros represents victims who have been injured as a result of others' negligence. The firm is now representing a client who was injured after an F-Train derailed in Queens.
The derailment occurred on Friday May 2nd around 10:30 am. According to authorities, the middle six cars on the eight-car train derailed as it was passing Woodside, Queens. As a result, 19 passengers were injured. Four suffered "potentially serious" injuries, according to the New York Fire Department. Officials from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority have stated that the precise cause of the derailment is still unknown. They also stated that there appeared to be track damage near the site of the derailment.
The incident was the most serious on the New York City subway system since a 1991 derailment killed five passengers and injured more than 200 near Union Square. Although the City's subway system has not seen serious derailments in recent years, MTA has encountered problems with railway safety. In May of last year, a train derailment on the New Haven line injured numerous passengers. Another derailment in the Bronx in December killed four and injured more than 70.
New York City personal injury attorneys at Jaroslawicz & Jaros believe that defective tracks and the failure to properly secure or place the tracks caused the derailment, among other reasons. The MTA has confirmed that the accident happened in a critical break corridor.
Since 1980, the personal injury attorneys at Jaroslawicz & Jaros have been able to use decades of combined experience to secure just compensation for individuals and families harmed by the negligence or misconduct of others. The firm's legal team handles the full range of personal injury cases and works closely with clients to guide them through the personal injury or wrongful death claim process.
