Bluefield's Lykel Collier signs with Bluefield College; Mullens to hold Basketball game in honor of Kaimyn Anderson

Another Bluefield High school athlete joins the college ranks for basketball, in the fall Lykel Collier will head to Bluefield College.

Collier is a two time state champion at Bluefield High School,  including helping this years team to a 64-39 win over Robert C. Byrd in the title game.  

He's received first team all state honors and had over 250 assists as a junior and senior.  

He also broke the school record for most career starts.  


In September, 12-year-old Kaimyn Anderson passed away during a high school football game at Wyoming East.

Sunday a basketball game will be held in Mullens in his honor.  

It's Mullens vs. Pineville old-school rivalry game with former players that played for the two schools before they consolidated.

Legendary coaches will be returning to head the teams including Don Nuckols, who led Mullens to five state championship titles. The game is open to the public and all proceeds go to the Kaimyn Anderson Memorial Scholarship fund that will aid one student at Wyoming East with college expenses.
