Sophia woman arrested after trying to attack neighbors with butcher knife


A Sophia woman was arrested Friday, June 6 for brandishing a deadly weapon. Sophia Police arrested April McKinney for chasing multiple people with a 9 inch butcher knife and trying to cause them harm. 

Officer Ethan with the Sophia Police Department tells 59 News that a neighbor had confronted McKinney. That's when she pulled the knife and tried to attack. McKinney was taken to the Southern Regional Jail and has since bonded out.

Her boyfriend, Zebulon Nolan, is also wanted by police. Ethan tell us that during the argument, Nolan hit a man in the head with a baseball bat and punched another man in the face. McKinney told police that shortly after the incident Nolan packed his bags and fled the scene.

A warrant is out for Nolan's arrest.
