A third former Concord University football player pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges in connection with an alleged drug deal gone bad.
Maricco Sanders entered the plea in Mercer County Circuit Court. Last month, former Concord University football players Russell Bailey and Riyahd Richardson pleaded guilty to the same charge.

The three were previously charged with malicious wounding, petty larceny and robbery near the Athens campus last November. Assistant Prosecuting Attorney John McGinnis explains Sanders' plea agreement.

"If the judge accepts the plea, Mr. Sanders would be placed on probation for a number of years as determined by the court, he would be required to pay restitution to the victim for his medical bills and he would have to perform 150 hours of community service," McGinnis said.

The plea carries a possible sentence of 1-5 years behind bars.
A pre-sentencing hearing for the 3 men is scheduled for July 22nd.
