The town of Alderson is preparing for one of the biggest 4th of July celebrations in the State.

So what can you look forward to this holiday weekend?

A Flea Market and numerous children's aactivitieson Wednesday kicked off the annual 4th of July Celebration in Alderson. On Thursday, many more came out to the Alderson Medical Center's Health Fair.

Locals and those traveling for the festivities enjoyed free healthcare screenings, door prizes and carnival food and rides.

"I usually always come to the fair and learn how to be healthy," said Abigail Mullins, Alderson resident.

"I learn a lot about what to do and how to get fit and how to be healthy," said Abbey Miller, Lewisburg resident.
A lifelong resident of the town said attendees can expect a ground and an aerial fireworks show. Born and raised in Alderson, Charles Lobban told us there's nothing like being a part of something you've enjoyed as a kid.
"Our members all participate in it so it's a comradery thing and then the whole community gets ready for people to come into town. There's nothing like it, growing up here just makes you like it even more," said Lobban, Alderson Assistant Fire Chief.
He said there's aspects to the show that are very unique.

"We have pieces we have built like a fire truck that goes and fights a house fire, we built the house and we come over with our fire truck and put it out," Lobban told us.
"The fireworks here in Alderson are the best I've ever seen. It's just so fun seeing everyone getting along and bonding as a community," Mullins said.

The cost to attend the fireworks show is $5.
The Duck Races on Sunday is a fundraiser for the fireworks, that's a $5 fee as well.
All other activities throughout the holiday weekend are free.
The parade begins at 10:30 a.m.
Stuart's Hot Dog Eating Contest begins at 1 p.m. at Stuart's Smokehouse.
The fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.
