The entire state is in the "slight" risk area for severe storms this afternoon(Tuesday)/evening. A cold front will push into the area later this evening and move through overnight with showers and storms developing ahead of this front. The main threats for severe weather this afternoon/evening will be damaging winds but we could also see heavy downpours, frequent lightning and possibly even some small hail. Winds will be out of the SW 10-20 mph but some storms could produce much higher gusts.
Isolated showers will pop up across the area throughout the first part of the day, becoming more widespread into midday. Storms will develop into the afternoon, becoming stronger and more widespread throughout the late afternoon/evening. Some storms could have heavy downpours as they slowly move across the area, increasing the flash flooding potential.
The potential for heavy rain continues into the overnight and gradually tapers off into early Wednesday morning. We'll continue to dry out throughout Wednesday afternoon.
