Tariq Drabu said A recent dental survey conducted between January and March 2014 has offered some interesting results.
(PRWEB) July 14, 2014
Tariq Drabu is a Manchester born and educated dentist and specialist oral surgeon. Dr Drabu was one of the youngest dentists to ever graduate in the UK at twenty one. He then went on to work in busy dental hospitals in the UK and Saudi Arabia before completing his Fellowship in Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Dr Drabu is now the proud owner of the successful Langley Dental Practice and is also the Clinical Lead Dentist for the Oral Surgery Clinical Assessment and Treatment Services at NHS Heywood Middleton and Rochdale. Having always been passionate about education, Dr Drabu teaches and mentors postgraduate dentists in oral surgery at UCLAN Dental Clinic in Preston.
Tariq Drabu said The survey was carried out from January to March 2014 with over one million patients asked about their dental experience. Those participating were asked to answer a medley of questions which included their ability to get an appointment with a NHS dentist and if they hadnt booked with a NHS dentist in the past two years, they were asked their reasoning.
Tariq Drabu in Manchester went on to say Out of the over million asked to participate only four hundred and sixty thousand replied with over sixty percent saying they had received a NHS dental appointment in the past two years. The positive news is that eighty four percent found their experience positive with forty eight percent saying the service was very good and thirty six percent claiming their experience to be fairly good. The great news is that ninety three percent of those who tried to get an appointment were successful. The concern is that out of the thirty nine percent who didnt get a NHS appointment, over half didnt even try.
Tariq Drabu closed in saying Many patients chose private surgeries over NHS surgeries when looking for a dentist. Over twenty percent preferred using a private practice and seventeen percent claimed their dentist has changed from NHS to private. My biggest concern is that there is such a large number of patients who didnt even try and get a NHS dental appointment, believing that they wouldnt be able to get in and therefore didnt try.
