Officials address surveillance on Oak Hill Rail Trail

OAK HILL, W.Va. (AP) - After the close-knit community of Oak Hill in Fayette County is rattled after police say a woman is brutally attacked and assaulted in broad daylight, Officials tell the public, security cameras will be installed.

When we first reported this story, city leaders in Oak Hill talked about installing more security cameras to increase security on the trail.

Now, City Manager, Bill Hannabass, says there are a couple cameras on the trail already but do plan on adding more.

“Yeah, we have to fit those in our budget but they will be going up fairly soon. We also encourage people to take matters into their own hands as well,” Bill Hannabass said.

Even with cameras, some think it still isn't enough. Karen Jones walks her dogs on the trail almost every day. She says the dogs help her feel safe.
