We're still in the middle of summer but now is the time to start thinking about getting your Back to School vaccines. The Beckley-Raleigh County Health Department is giving vaccines for all school-aged children.

You don't have to wait until kindergarten, vaccines are given as young as age 4. When making an appointment, bring in a copy of your child's current shot record.

The Director of Nursing explained why it's a good idea to make your appointment early.

"Don't wait, you won't have to get in the long lines. Right now is the best time to get those appointments and get your vaccines now. It makes it easy on the child because they're worried about the pain of getting the vaccine and if they have to wait a long time it can get uncomfortable," said Candance Hurd.

The Beckley-Raleigh County Health Department is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
