From July 27 through August 1, concerts, a book signing, nightly jam sessions and a time-honored blend of music and dance abound, courtesy of the Augusta Heritage Center of Davis & Elkins College Bluegrass Week.

Two concerts will take place July 29 and July 31 beginning at 7:30 p.m., with doors to the Myles Center for the Arts Harper-McNeeley Auditorium opening at 7 for both shows and dances after in the open-air pavilion.

At 6:30 p.m. and during intermission at the July 29 concert, Hicks Henry will sign copies of her book “Pretty Good for a Girl: Women in Bluegrass.” The theme is “An Evening of World-Class Bluegrass,” with the set, “Women in Bluegrass,” featuring Laurie Lewis, Tammy Rogers, Kathy Kallick, Sharon Gilchrist, Casey Henry and special guest Murphy Hicks Henry.

Performances by Gary Nichols, Tammy Rogers, Richard Bailey, Mike Fleming and special guests highlight the second set, “The SteelDrivers,” followed by a contra dance in the open-air pavilion.

The Augusta Bluegrass Week Staff Concert July 31 features Laurie Lewis, Tom Rozum, Mike Compton, Russ Barenberg , Ned Luberecki, Kathy Kallick, Mike Fleming, Jesse Cobb, Gary Nichols, Tyler Grant, Sharon Gilchrist, Richard Bailey, Mark Panfil, Casey Henry, John Mailander, Patrick McAvinue, Ira Gitlin, Neel Brown, John Seebach and Mary Burdette. A square dance will take place after the concert in the open-air pavilion featuring Jesse Milnes, Bill Dudley and Kevin Chesser with caller Mary Alice Milnes.

7:30 p.m.: “Exploring Nostalgia for the Future: History of the Augusta Heritage Center” will be presented by Augusta Heritage Center Program Coordinator Brittany Hicks in Madden Student Center Timms Lounge.

8:30 p.m.: Bluegrass jams with students and staff on Halliehurst porch.

Tuesday, July 29

4-6:30 p.m.: Show and Sell featuring crafts, recordings and instruments on Halliehurst porch.

After concert: Bluegrass jams with students and staff on Halliehurst porch.

Wednesday, July 30

6-10 p.m.: Pickin’ in the Park at Elkins City Park.

8:30 p.m.: Bluegrass jams with students and staff on Halliehurst porch.

Thursday, July 31

6:15-7:30 p.m.: Craft Student Showcase with exhibits and demos by craft students and instructors in Myles Center for the Arts.

After concert: Bluegrass jams with students and staff on Halliehurst porch.

Friday, August 1

8 p.m.: Farewell Square and Contra Dance featuring The Bluegrass Trinity in the open-air pavilion.
