Notebooks,  pencils and erasers are just a few of the school supplies that will be donated to students in need at this years "Stuff A Bus" event.

Concord University organized the event at Walmart. People were encouraged to come out and donate school supplies for children in need.

Schools in Raleigh, Summers and mercer County will be receiving all the donations for the upcoming school year.

"I think its really important for us at Concord to do this because it really takes a village to raise a child," Dr. Susan Williams, with Concord University, said.

Organizers say that step one of the learning process is giving children the proper equipment they need to learn.

"It's fundamental to give students what they need. Every child should start school with the proper things they need to succeed," Dr. Williams said.

Students tell me that just having a new folder or even pencil, makes them more excited about being at school..

"I think its great because you get to see what the other person has and see what you have," Rosa Williams said.

officials say it's never to late to help out, and if you still want to donate they will hold another similar event on August 16 from 11-3.
