In his campaigning effort, Independent candidate for Congress Ed Rabel is forgoing conventional.

Rather than using the modern convenience of automotive transportation to go from place to place throughout the second district, which stretches across the middle of the state and through the Eastern Panhandle, Rabel is using one of the oldest forms of transportation — riding on horseback.

His horse of choice? A black Friesian/Quarter horse cross named Thor.

In a video released by his campaign, Rabel sits atop Thor while explaining why he is the best candidate for the Second Congressional District of West Virginia. Click HERE to watch the video.

“I’m Ed Rabel campaigning here in the West Virginia countryside with my buddy Thor,” he said in the video. Rabel goes on to say, “We’ve got incredible problems in this country, and in the world. The Congress — the Democrats and the Republicans — do nothing. Their failure to govern this nation endangers all of us. I’d like to be your voice in Congress — the Independent voice.”

Rabel faces Democratic candidate Nick Casey and Republican Alex Mooney in the November election.

At the end of the video, Rabel makes a final appeal: “If you have ever been to West Virginia, you know how beautiful our mountains are,” Rabel says from high atop Thor overlooking Sleepy Creek Mountain in Morgan County, West Virginia. “They are being destroyed by big coal. And the water is being polluted as well. I want to save the mountains and the streams for not only ourselves, but our children and our grandchildren. In November vote Independent. Vote Ed Rabel for Congress.”
