Sketch released of man suspected of rape outside of Appalachian Power Park

Charleston police have released a composite sketch of the suspect in the Appalachian Power Park sexual assault.

UPDATE:

Charleston police are looking for a man who sexually assaulted a woman after she left Appalachian Park late Tuesday night.

Charleston Chief of Detectives Steve Cooper said the woman left the ballpark at 9:30 p.m. and was walking to her car. A man approached her asking for money. She told him she didn't have any and he continued to follow her.

Cooper said the man then grabbed her by the hair, pinned her against the wall and raped her.

Detectives say the man is white, in his 50s and has tattoos on both of his arms. He has long, gray hair and weighs about 170 pounds. Detectives believe he might be homeless.

According to officers, the suspect is is described as a white male, in his 50's, has missing teeth, and tattoos on both arms. He has gray hair. If you have any information on this case, you are asked to contact Charleston Police immediately.

Detectives with the Charleston Police Department are investigating a reported sexual assault in downtown Charleston, West Virginia.

According to officers on the scene, a woman was leaving Appalachian Power Park and was walking to her car just before 11 p.m. A man approached her and asked her for change. She said she didn't have any. That's when that man, according to officers, pulled her into a grassy area beside a parking lot for the baseball field and sexually assaulted her.

No one is in custody, and a description of the suspect was not immediately available. The victim was treated at a nearby hospital.
