Beckley's "Ice Cream Man" arrested on child porn charges

 A man who was well known for selling ice cream around Beckley, WV was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014 in connection with sex crimes.  Officers with the Beckley Police arrested Alvin Lee Jessup, also known as the "Ice Cream Man," on two counts of Possessing Child Pornography and two counts of Prohibiting Child Erotica.  The first two charges are felonies and the other two are misdemeanors.

Police searched Jessup's home on James Street in Beckley on July 19 in connection with a prostitution investigation.  While they were there, investigators found VHS tapes which they say had video of female minors where were "engaged in sexually explicit conduct and child erotica."  Jessup was evicted from the same home on James Street on July 20.

Jessup was arraigned in front of Magistrate Steve Massie.  He faces up to a year in jail and/or a fine of no more than $1,000 for each charge of Prohibiting Child Erotica.  The child pornography charges have a penalty of two years in jail and up to $2,000 is fines.
