Greenbrier East football preview: Working to end the playoff drought

Posted: Updated:
The Spartans broke even going 5-5 in 2013 and are in the hunt for a winning season this time around.

With their star quarterback Isaiah Kinder graduated and now playing for William and Mary, the Spartans will have that position to fill along with some others.

But, this years team is motivated and close-knit.  The team considers themselves brothers and work together as a family.  The players and head coach Ray Lee are are extremely driven to not only finish with a winning season, but to make it to the playoffs.

"We're really close, from my four years being here I think this is the closest team that I've ever played on, we just have fun," said senior Micheal Farley.

Christian Brackenrich, another senior, described how he wanted to leave high school.  "Leave a legacy," he said. "Be the first team to end the drought of the playoffs. We have to make it there.

The Spartans open their season at James Monroe on August 29th.
