UPDATE: Residents Without A Home Following Fire

Posted: Updated:
Residents in a Shady Spring home are displaced after a fire burnt down their home on Tuesday (8/26).

The house was located on Livingston Street and Raleigh County Emergency Dispatchers first received the call around 6:30 p.m.

A Neighbor told us the community is already rallying to help them as much as they can.

"I think people like to help people that help themselves. Both parents work very hard and that's why I gave to them. If someone helps themselves, I'll help them out as much as I can," said neighbor William Straight.

He told us right away neighbors offered the children shoes, and gave the parents monetary donations.

No one was injured, but the Red Cross has been called to provide assistance to the homeowners.

The following emergency crews responded to the scene:

  • Beaver, Ghent and Mabscott Fire Departments
  • Jan Care and Ghent Ambulances
  • Raleigh County Sheriff's Department
  • Fire marshal
