SOUTH CHARLESTON, West Virginia -
Two firefighters in South Charleston, West Virginia did something very special for a set of parents in Kanawha County Friday -- they delivered the couple's baby girl.
According to the Assistant Chief with the South Charleston Fire Department, the baby was delivered by Firefighters Jeff Kessler and Travis Bayes. Firefighters arrived at the home, and the mother was going into labor as they were walking through the front door.
The newborn was taken to CAMC Women and Children 's Hospital in Charleston. The assistant chief says the mother went into premature labor. She was only 24 weeks pregnant at the time.
According to fire crews, the little girl is safe and healthy.
