Hal Greer, Marshall and NBA great, passes away at 81

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (WVNS)- A hall of fame basketball player with ties to West Virginia passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018.

Hal Greer, a former Marshall University basketball player was also the first African American to play basketball at a state university in West Virginia. 

A 10-time All-Star, Greer played all of his 15-year career with the Sixers after being drafted in 1958.

Greer, who scored more than 20,000 points in his career, was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1982.

Greer was 81 years old.
