This year, the 13th annual Polar Bear Plunge is set to take place. All proceeds from the plunge benefit the Child and Youth Advocacy Center in Greenbrier County.
Swimmers are asked to find businesses and people to support their plunge, and that is how the money is raised. Officials say a $100 donation gets the business’s name on the event shirt, and a $500 donation gets the company logo on it.
Employees at the CYAC say they look forward to the event every year. “It’s a really fantastic, fun way to help out a very important cause in our community,” says executive director Katherine Thompson.
If you want to take the plunge, it is on March 5th at 1 o’clock at the Blue Bend Recreation area. All the money raised goes directly to helping children in need.
